Hoy ha sido el gran día. Os dejo el album de fotos con todas las imágenes del evento: la llegada de las tartas a la biblioteca, el montaje, la organización y el propio evento.

Espero que hayáis disfrutado tanto como yo. Muchas gracias.

Pronto se reunirá la comisión de selección de ONG para valorar dónde se ingresará el dinero. Ya os contaré...

Tartas para Nepal

¿Qué es tartas para Nepal? Un proyecto de Aprendizaje-Servicio puesto en marcha con el alumnado de 1º ESO del Arcipreste de Hita desde el área de Matemáticas.

El aprendizaje se centra en el área de la proporcionalidad (reducción a la unidad, regla de tres), y el servicio en este caso se trata de una ayuda solidaria a una zona devastada por el terremoto de hace unos días (Ver noticias). Ha sido el alumnado del Arcipreste el que ha decidido dedicar el dinero recaudado por sus tartas a este noble fin, mostrando sensibilidad y solidaridad.

El proyecto del área de Matemáticas consistirá en elaborar una receta similar a ésta, planteando problemas resolubles a través de la proporcionalidad. ¿A quién no le ha sucedido que tiene una receta para 6 y de pronto recibe una visita de 3 personas más? ¿O que su receta prevé 4 huevos pero en la nevera sólo quedan 3?... El alumnado podrá también editar un pequeño vídeo explicativo como hice yo misma:

El próximo viernes 22, durante el recreo, se venderán trozos de tarta elaboradas por el alumnado por 50 céntimos, y el dinero recaudado se destinará a una ONG de desarrollo que trabaje en la emergencia de Nepal.

Esta semana hemos organizado trabajo por comisiones: algunas personas se encargarán de la difusión en el centro (ya están haciendo carteles), en las redes sociales, de editar un vídeo posterior con las fotografías del evento, de editar el libro de recetas con todas las aportaciones, de vender los vales o de escoger la ONG a la que se destinarán los fondos.

Primes and composites. Sieve of Erathostenes

This morning we studied what Primes and Composites are. Here you have the definitions.

The Sieve of Eratosthenes is an ancient method for finding all primes numbers up to a specified number.

It was created by Eratosthenes (275-194 B.C., Greece), an ancient Greek mathematician. Just as a sieve is a strainer for draining spaghetti,  Eratosthenes's sieve drains out composite numbers and leaves prime numbers behind. The numbers from 1 to 100 are listed in a table. We will  use The Sieve of Eratosthenes to find all primes up to the number 100 by following the directions below.

Directions:

1. Cross out 1 since it is not prime.
2. Circle 2 because it is the smallest prime number. Cross out every multiple of 2.
3. Circle the next open number, 3. Now cross out every multiple of 3.
4. Circle the next open number, 5. Now cross out every multiple of 5.
5. Circle the next open number, 7. Now cross out every multiple of 7.
6. Continue this process until all numbers in the table have been circled or crossed out.

You have just circled all the prime numbers from 1 to 100!

4. An emirp (prime spelled backwards) is a prime that gives you a different prime when its digits are reversed. For example, 13 and 31 are emirps. List all emirps between 1

Square numbers

In mathematics, a square number or a perfect square is called an integer that is the square of an integer; in other words, it is the product of some integer with itself.

For example: 9 is a square number, since ita can be written as 3 × 3. 

These are always non-negative.
