Powers of ten

Good evening kids, 

I post here a video that I found very cool to explain the powers of 10 and the different orders of magnitude. This is called "Powers of ten". I was recommended by my friend Brianda, who is an architect. The film was made ​​in 1977 by a very famous couple of designers: Charles and Ray Eames.

Día de PI

Buenas tardes,

el viernes os conté que era el día de PI. Ya hemos tratado el tema anteriormente en el blog (2011 y 2013).

Hoy os dejo un gif en el que se ve cómo se va aproximando el perímetro de un polígono de n lados al de la circunferencia circunscrita. Espero que os guste.

Ban bossy

Hi boys and girls,

I post here a video that speaks about words. This is Math, I know, but I find quite important to think about the words we use, and the meanings hidden behind them.

When a little boy asserts himself, he is called a "leader". Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded "bossy". Words like bossy send a message: don't raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys, and this trend continues into adulthood. 

Together, we can encourage girls to lead.
